Eurostars Das Letras Hotel Lisbon
For this stay, we redeemed 25,557 Chase Ultimate Rewards points from the Sapphire Reserve card for our first two nights giving us a return of 1.5 cents/point in value on what would have otherwise cost $383.36. This emptied our Ultimate Rewards account so we redeemed 32,799 Merrill Lynch rewards to cover the next two nights at a straight 1 cent per point value and then emailed the hotel to have them merge our reservation. This is not an ideal way to book hotels, but it was free, so I didn't complain. I am embarrassed to say I only took one photo at the hotel during our stay in Lisbon. It's not that the room wasn't nice, perhaps I was just bitter we weren't upgraded, but it was somewhat standard with a nice view from the 7th floor!
I liked this hotel and thought the location was great and the recent redesign was nice. This is technically a 5 star hotel, but it didn't feel like one. The shower drain came out exposing the cavernous pipes, the shower itself leaked all over the bathroom floor, behind the curtains the wall paper was peeling off, and there was a massive scratch/burn/stain on the wood floor. I'm not one to complain to management about these things, but perhaps they would have upgraded us to something nicer had I brought these issues to someone's attention.
